It’s Friday
It’s Friday…
So? So what if it is Friday once again…!
Yeah…
Here is an interesting thing (question) that keeps popping up. I mean, I have heard it from pastors and non-pastors alike…
Do you think God likes you?
I mean, sure He loves you and I…
But what is the old saying? You can pick your… but you are stuck with your relatives…
You know the saying.
And in today’s world and climate, the new psychology… your relatives have been toxic your whole life, so get away and keep them away from you…
So, you don’t even have to put up with them!
And then you end up alone in a cave after all is said and done… and that is exactly what the devil wants. Divide and conquer. Easier to pick us off that way.
That is A BIG REASON THAT CHURCH CANNOT EVER BE BY INTERNET!
Because the devil likes it!
Okay, but the questions still stands: does God like you?
He loves us yes… we have that already established…
And He puts up with us… but like? I mean I don’t like me at times! And as for you all…?
Well… you know….
But imagine a pastor thinking that God does not like him! That is not so far fetched… as we spend more time in His Word… and we see just how far we are away from doing and being the way we should… or not being the way we shouldn’t…
What He has to put up with!
What He has to forgive!
Yes, but He already has!
And the blame has already been placed and remedied!
And…
God does not look at us in that way anymore. Instead of the filthy rags, He sees Jesus’ radiance. Remember the Mount of Transfiguration?
That is what we look like to God. Not the three knuckleheads with Jesus (Peter, James and John—and us if we were there too!) but that white clean, pure humanity.
He likes that. That is what we were meant to be—that is what He created us to be. That is what He has re-created us to be again.
And this is how: Jesus.
He takes our junk, we get His riches. He takes our filth, we get His purity. He takes our guilt, we get His innocence. He takes our unrighteousness and we get His righteousness.
I know, we have a hard time being convinced still. Yes and true. But it is. It is still true.
His love is not a distant—at even arms-length kind of love. He is closer than that. We in Him, He in us. He does not shrink back because of the stench. To Him there is none left. It went away when Jesus was buried. Buried forever.
Therefore… now there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.(Romans 8)
How do you know? You were baptized, right? (Romans 6). God did that work there. He does not make mistakes. Promise.
So… let it cover you once again, if you are feeling a bit dried out—parched.
So yes, He delights in us, His children! Rejoice and be glad in this! Be at play in the fields of the Lord…
Yes, even on a Friday… but more so… on His Day… where He feeds us once again…
