It’s Friday…
It’s Friday…

And how much Bible reading have you got done this week?
Why am I asking this?
Well, it is because God announces that “My people are destroyed by lack of knowledge…” Hosea 4:6a
If we don’t know Him, how can we trust Him? If we forget His promises we are bound to trust and look to other things. If we are led to think other than He claims, says and pronounces about all things, then we are lost.
Hear the rest of that verse: “…because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.”
How much have our children accept the world’s wisdom rather than God’s? What do we still hold onto that is contrary to God’s Word?
I am amazed how little people have of the Bible inside them.
We used to be called the people of the book! Let’s be that again.
Read daily. How much? A chapter or 2 is good. Read through the Bible each year. Repeat. Ask about good commentaries to use.
And please… don’t get just any commentary… Ask. There are a lot of misleading trash ready to send you who knows where… but for certain away from the truth!
It is okay to not understand certain passages. Take notes. Ask. I might not know either, but then we can do the research together. I can show you how I was trained to find out.
Now, for certain there are things in the Word of God that God does not explain. But that does not mean we cannot know the rest.
And those unknowns are few, and do not stop us from knowing and believing as we need to for this life and the next.
This knowledge of God and His ways, but His Words, is the way He chose to deal with us. These Words are our defense against the lies of the devil, the world and the flesh.
They supply faith. They supply a foundation to rest upon. They undo the works of the devil. They are the answer for everything for all time.
Yes, even in a week like this one! Even on a Friday like we have dad!
Let us give thanks that Sunday is only two days away! There we will receive even more to aid us in our need! We will be given the Word, and the Word enfleshed in bread and wine! The very medicine and strength to deal with the next week to come…
Getting us ready for that final day…
