Pastor Thompson has been here since the summer of 2019.  After attending Bethany Lutheran College (ELS), he was brought to the conviction that the Bible is the inspired and inerrant Word of God in all it teaches and that the Lutheran Confessions are the correct explanation of the teachings and events of the Bible.  He was ordained into the public ministry in 1982 after graduating with a Master of Divinity degree from Bethany Lutheran Seminary (ELS) in Mankato, MN.  His public ministry has included:

  • Pastor at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Albert Lea, MN (1982-1988)
  • Dean of Students and Professor of Religion at Bethany Lutheran College, Mankato, MN (1988-2000)
  • Chaplain and Executive Director of the Schwan Center – Bethany’s retreat center in NW Wisconsin – (2002-2005)
  • Pastor at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Audubon, MN from 2006 through July of 2014
  • Pastor at Faith Lutheran Church in San Antonio, TX until June of 2019 when we called him to be our pastor at St. Timothy in Lombard, IL.

He and his wife, Jenna, have six children and ten grandchildren.
Besides his weekly preaching and teaching, he has also spoken and written on numerous topics, including:

  • What in the Word Is Going On?  Identifying Hollow and Deceptive Worldviews (his book published in 2010 by Northwestern Publishing House)
  • Justification and Good Works
