It’s Friday…
Yes, it is only Friday…
And why am I inside when it is just gorgeous out? This is a Friday meant for playing hooky… am I right?
Spring is here! Let’s do something… or nothing as long as it is in the warm sun…
That is what it will be like… and well, and not be like… because it will be even better.
But take the most stir crazy, winter sick, cramped… miserable season you had (I am thinking especially a long one spent in Wisconsin when the fishing opener had to be held in June because the lakes were still frozen on opening day!)…
And then all of a sudden you wake up because someone opened the window in the room and a gentle warm breeze has graced your face…
And it is Saturday…
And no grass yet to mow…
And with nothing else to do… but sit in the sun on the deck that somehow has become devoid of that white stuff!
That is kind of what the last day will be when Jesus says to come into your rest prepared for you…
Well, but a billion, trillion, infinity and you can’t get any higher betterer than the best we have had here on this earth!
That is what Easter is all about, and it is almost here. And I am not going to write a lot today because…
Well…
Do you see those robins (and without Batman)? I have been hearing Cardinals (birds, not the clergy in Rome) the last couple of days. It is their prayer to let it begin… and STAY for a while … please…
If you return their whistles, they will reply. Back and forth it can go on… for quite a while. Talking with the birds… yeah…
Now… I am told that they can be boring because all they talk about is avionics… I mean unless you’re into that…sure but…
No, I will stick to talking to dogs and horses.
I imagine Adam and Eve could talk to them. What they gave up!
Yeah, this could have been all ours. But the wonderful news is that it will be again… and better!
Jesus has shown us what would have been when He told the wind and water to be quiet and still. He is the New Adam, and He is the first to be raised among many brothers and sisters.
Yes, only Friday… but it is that type of day that should make us yearn for Eden… and more than that, for the new Heavens and the new Earth.
The Real reality that is to come.
Today is a day that gives us a glimpse of what can be and will be… on that Easter that is promised to come for all who are in Christ Jesus…
All because of Easter, and Christ IS RISEN!
So yes, Friday…
BUT Easter is almost here…

Prayers: For a lasting peace in our world and in our cities—especially Minneapolis! That a lasting one would remain between the people of Israel and Gaza as well as for the people of Russia and the Ukraine. That the war with Iran would come to an end quickly and that justice would be served. That the people of Iran would be free from tyranny and that the evil there would be put down. For our congregation that it would please our Lord that we would increase in numbers and there remain in this place a congregation that calls upon Him rightly, practicing the faith according to the Scriptures. For those who are being persecuted and murdered because they call upon the name of Jesus—especially in Africa. For the end of violence in our cities and that our schools and congregations would be protected from those who wish them harm. For our families that parents would courageously discipline their children and raise them in the fear of the Lord, teaching them about salvation in Jesus alone.
