A Friday Reflection…

I heard a fiery, but very Gospel focused sermon many years ago. It was on Good Friday. It’s title and theme were “It’s Friday, but Sunday is a’comin!” This phrase was repeated throughout the sermon until our hearts were burning within us!

Can we combine this with the 80’s song having the lyrics “work’in for the weekend” ? They have the same roots.

It’s Eden’s curse longing for a new Eden’s Sabbath Day’s rest. Saturday no longer, as that we could not keep. Sunday is given to us, because Jesus kept it for us all.

It is no longer working for the weekend rest, but waiting to receive the Sabbath day gift. This is the difference between Law and Gospel.

Sunday is almost here—now closer than when we first believed!
